I recognize a couple of the NY ones. What an undertaking, there are so many Chinese restaurants in the U.S. to have them narrowed down to just 50.
Hi Bicultural Mama,
I know--how can any one person choose?

I been to a few place in the SoCal area. I can't say my favorite is one or another b/c they are different, with unique dishes. Reading this post however I suddenly have a craving for Din Tai Fung's red bean steam cake. Darn!
Hi Savvy gal,
Me, too--I have a lot of favorites, each for different things.

I'm so happy to see so many on this list in the SF Bay Area! I've been to Chef Chu's in Los Altos many times and it's certainly popular, but I can't say it stands out from any good Chinese restaurant in SF. I can't wait to try Enjoy Vegetarian and Little Sheep Hot Pot.
Hi Bonggamom,
You're lucky to live in an area with so many choices for good Chinese food!
I wholeheartedly DISAGREE
I wholeheartedly DISAGREE with the Pennsylvania picks! They are upscale Chinese restaurants in the hoity toity part of the 'burbs. Food is mediocre. Prices are high. Egh! If you are in PA, the best dim sum place is in Philly Chinatown - Ocean City Restaurant. If you are in the 'burbs, my pick is Lai Lai in Blue Bell.
I want to try the one they listed in Maryland tho! Tks for sharing!
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for your opinion. I'm sure the author never got a chance to eat at the majority of the restaurants that are featured.

i spotted a familiar name - Din Tai Fung :) There's one over here in Kuala Lumpur and they are good. The xiao long bao are awesome.
Hi Mommy to Chumsy,
Thanks for your input--it's nice to hear what real people think.

Din Tai Fung in LA is fantastic. I also have to say that Dumpling Inn in San Diego is the best Chinese food I've had in years. The homemade dumplings and noodles are to die for!
Hi Tracey,
Thanks for the recommendations--I'll have to try them the next time I'm in California.
Utah...
Everyone knows (true foodies) if you want "authentic" Chinese food in UT only go to Red Maple & Hong Kong Tea House, which didn't make the list. I adore the Hong Kong Tea House & they make the best dumplings. If you want fast Chinese food...then Little World is fantastic.
Hi JoLynn,
Thanks for your input--it's very helpful to get info from the locals. :)
Great.
