Midwest Chinese Family Camp
A friend of ours just told us about the Midwest Chinese Family Camp, a week-long summer camp at Amish Acres in Nappanee, IN. Last year was their 50th anniversary. This year's camp dates are July 19-26, 2009.
The camp is for Chinese American families--grandparents, parents, & children, blended families & adoptive families--living in or having connections to the American Midwest. The primary language spoken at the camp is English. The focus is on exposing the children to Chinese history, art, and food.
The day begins with morning exercise, breakfast, announcements, and singing. There are arts & crafts, sports, lunch, and the Chinese Heritage program during the day. At night, there's dinner and afterwards, a movie, wagon ride/campfire, or dance. The last night is the Festival, consisting of skits, music, stories, and performance art.
Sounds like a really fun family activity--perfect for those of us who aren't yet ready to send the kids off to camp by themselves. :)
