Our Favorite Asian Grocery Stores in Portland

Friday, August 29, 2008

Thanks to our friend H2 for sharing with us her favorite Asian Grocery Stores in Portland. Fubonn

Fubonn Shopping Center
2850 SE 82nd Ave, Ste #1
Portland, OR 97266
(503) 517-8877

This is the largest Asian Shopping Center in Oregon.  It is Chinese-owned and houses a supermarket & deli, bubble tea, a bakery, a noodle house, a couple of restaurants, a beauty salon, clothing stores, jewelry and art stores, a bookstore, a gift shop, a music store, a Shiseido store, and even a Starbucks.

Beaverton, OR 97005

This large chain Asian grocery store has locations in Beaverton, Bellevue, and Seattle.  It is Japanese-owned, and you'll find lots of fresh produce and seafood.  They have an amazing selection of Pan-Asian items.  They even offer cooking classes.  There is also a bookstore, a restaurant, a travel agency, and a cosmetics store.

That's neat. I would love to have Japanese chain grocery store nearby so that I can check out neat bento box and accessories. :)We have a big Korean chain supermarket in the Atlanta area called Super H-Mart. It's as big as typical American grocery store like Kroger or Publix. In the store, they also have section for bakery, household items/furniture, bank, luxury items (handbags) and food court (which is my favorite)

Thanks, Amy!

Thanks for the info on Atlanta. We have Super H-Mart here in the Chicago area, too.

Go Asians!

Wow, we're totally spreading out everywhere, haha

Taste of Asia

These are really recommended and worth visiting Asian grocery stores. There's a variety of products to choose from. Hope there would still be more Asian stores like these in the area.

Konbu

Do either of these stores, Fubonn Shopping Center or Uwajimaya offer konbu? I use to buy at Anzen Japanese Market on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard but the quality of their konbu has sadly declined. Thanks for your response. Domo arigato gozaimasu :)

John

Hi John,

Sorry, but I don't know the answer to your question. Perhaps you could try giving them a call.

H-Mart

There's an H-Mart in Tigard/Beaverton! I lived in Atlanta for awhile, and although this one isn't as glorious as the one's there were, I'm thrilled that it is here. Between these three markets mentioned on your site, we can find anything.

Hi Marie,

Thanks for the info. That's good to know.
