Places to Visit in Tainan

Wanpi World Safari Zoo

The kids had a great time feeding bread to the animals, riding the miniature horse, visiting the amusement park, and watching the pig race and a live animal show.

We saw flamingos, camels, coatis, porcupines, peacocks, kangaroos, llamas, ostriches, toucans, elephants, macaws, macaques, penguins, alligators, turtles, and a Komodo dragon.  Pretty cool!

Anping Tree House

An old warehouse of the Tait & Co merchant house, engulfed by giant Banyan trees.  It's an unusual sight, and the kids had fun climbing up and down the stairs around it.

Anping Fort (Fort Zeelandia)

A fortress built in 1634 by the Dutch, when Taiwan was an important transit port in East Asia.

Chihkan Tower (Fort Provintia)

An old Dutch fort with Chinese-style towers built on top.  At the top of one of the towers, you can pray to the God of Literature for good grades.  Haha--so Taiwanese!  :)

How fun!

It looks like you had a wonderful trip! What did your kids like best about the trip?

Hi Faith,

Yes, we saw so many beautiful places--it was amazing! The kids loved the delicious food the best.

I thought I knew Taiwan, but

I thought I knew Taiwan, but i don't b/c i didn't know about these places. Guess why the tour is a good idea. Did you think it went too fast? LIke not enough time at each location? Oh, and on the post about night markets, i love them too!

Hi Lisacng,

Yes, it would have been nice to do a 10-day tour, but we just didn't have the time. I'm still glad we did it, even though it was a whirlwind tour.
