It's an exciting trip for the kids to cross this fantastic bridge through the fog. We got out and walked across part of the bridge. It was freezing cold and windy, but really worth it.
This gigantic park has so much to offer. First, we went to visit the Japanese Tea Garden, where the kids got to climb over the Drum Bridge and see the beautiful Buddhist Pagoda. We even sat down and had tea at the Tea House. After lunch at the De Young Museum, we visited the Conservatory of Flowers, with its lovely plants and butterfly exhibit. Later, we went back to ride the Carousel and play in the huge Children's Playground.
Here, we got to see the Musee Mechanique, kind of an old-time arcade, where you can put in a quarter and get a palm reading, arm wrestle a mechanical arm, or watch puppets dance. At Pier 39, we got to see the California sea lions, had a great dinner at the Crabhouse (they have a kids' menu), rode the 2-tier San Francisco Carousel, and played at the games arcade. The Aquarium of the Bay is small, but fabulous. We walked under a tunnel of ocean creatures and saw starfish, anenomes, all kinds of fish, sharks, and sting rays. We even got to touch the starfish, leopard sharks, and bat rays. What an amazing experience!
If you who don't remember how to do it, here are some handy instructions for Cat's Cradle and String Games. You can learn to do the Cat's Cradle, Cup & Saucer, Eiffel Tower, Witch's Broom, Jacob's Ladder, and more. What a fun activity to share with your little ones. to buy
The main attraction in Atlanta is the Georgia Aquarium, the largest aquarium in the country. It contains the largest tank in the world. There are whale sharks, beluga whales, California sea lions, sea otters, and penguins. There's an interactive gallery with touch pools where you can touch the horseshoe crabs, sea stars, stingrays, and shrimp. There's also a large kids' playground at the aquarium and Deepo's Undersea 3D Wondershow, a 3-D movie about a fish who takes the audience on an underwater adventure.
Here, your child can operate a fork lift or fill a cart in the grocery store. There's a Crawl Space for toddlers to roam. There's also a waterplay area. Your child can paint on the wall, build a sand sculpture, or dress up in a costume. Check out the puppet shows, storytime, and puzzles.
The Atlanta Zoo is very nice. You will find all kinds of animals, including a Giant panda exhibit. Take a peek at the Panda Cam. Also, check out the petting zoo with goats, pigs, and sheep.
SW & PW, who are new parents, highly recommend the Fisher-Price Learning Home. Your child can ring the doorbell, check the mailbox, drop balls down the rain spout, open the door, listen to the radio, open the window, flip the light switch, sort shapes, spin numbers, and move dials on the clock. There are 21 songs and lots of fun household sounds. It's perfect for kids ages 6 months to 3 years. to buy
When my first daughter was born, it took me hours and hours of rocking and singing in order to get her to sleep. I sang every song I had ever heard of, making up the words to the songs I couldn't remember. How I wish I had known about this website then!
BusSongs.com provides the lyrics and words to all of those nursery songs and rhymes that we have all forgotten. What a wonderful resource for those of us with "mommy" brain!
