Our Favorite Kids' Music
What’s your favorite kids’ music? It's difficult to find kids' music that we adults can also enjoy. Here are a few of our favorites:
Victor Vito by Laurie Berkner
This CD is catchy, upbeat, silly, and fun to sing along with. Most of the songs are original, but there are a couple of classic kids' songs thrown in, such as “Froggie Went a-Courtin’” and “O Susannah.” There are also a couple of lullabies in the mix—“Moon Moon Moon” and “Goodnight.” Some of Laurie's songs are featured in Jack’s Big Music Show on Noggin. We also love her other albums: Under a Shady Tree, Buzz Buzz , and Whaddaya Think of That?
Philadelphia Chickens from Sandra Boynton
This album has even sillier songs featuring cute little animals, singing in different styles, such as rock, R&B, and reggae. The celebrities (Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Natasha Richardson, Kevin Bacon, Laura Linney, and Eric Stoltz) do a fantastic job. We especially like “Snuggle Puppy,” “Faraway Cookies,” and “Please Can I Keep It.”
Happy Songs from Milkshake
These tunes are mostly cute & fun pop-rock songs. We like the upbeat “Breakfast Time,” “Fingers and Toes,” and “Clap My Hands.” The album ends with “Close Your Eyes,” a lovely lullaby.
This is a fabulous CD—so cute and clever. It features all different genres: rock, disco, jazz, show tunes, country, reggae, and hip hop. You and your kids will love singing along with Tasha, Uniqua, Tyrone, Austin, and Pablo. We like “Questing, Questing,” “Laser Limbo Tango,” and “When I’m Booin’.” A second album, Groove to the Music, is also great. We love “Rad Moves” and “Ski Patrol To The Rescue.”
This album features songs from all over the world. Kids learn to sing greetings in Swahili, Chinese, and Russian. There is also the classic French song, “Alouette.” We love “De Colores,” “Funiculi Funicula,” “Jambo,” and “Tue Tue.” {tobuy}

Re: Our Favorite Kids' Music
We are loving Elizabeth Mitchell's "You Are My Little Bird" and "You Are My Sunshine". She and her acoustic guitar play some renditions of classic american folk songs such as "Peace Like A River" and "You Are My Sunshine", and also include and some multicultural songs.
Elizabeth Mitchell
Thanks for the recommendation, angelrica. I've heard that Elizabeth Mitchell is great!
