Chicago History Museum
We recently made a trip to the Chicago History Museum. The kids were fascinated by the Facing Freedom exhibit, learning about the people who fought for equal rights, from the time of slavery to the Japanese internment to women's suffrage to workers' rights.
They also liked climbing onto the fancy old L car and learning about the details of the Chicago Fire.
The highlight of the visit was the amazing balloon artist, who made simply fabulous and creative designs.
Overall, it was a worthwhile trip and a good learning experience for the kids.

I've never been to that
I've never been to that museum. I've been to the aquarium and the natural science museum (not sure if that's the name - it's right by the water). I go to Chicago once in a while...will have to check this one out the next time I'm there!
Hi Bicultural Mama,
We've been to the Museum of Science & Industry, Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, Children's Museum, Art Institute, and of course the zoo, but this was our first time to the History Museum. I think the kids are finally at an age where they can understand and appreciate it more.
I love it when you share
I love it when you share about the local educational places to visit. I forget about this little quiet gem. I have to take the kids there, too, maybe when the little one is a bit older. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Sandra,
Sure--it's fun to discover new places to explore, after we've been to the Science museum time and time again.
