Lead-free (or Lead-safe) Lunch Boxes

Thursday, May 22, 2008

My daughter's tattered lunch box from Target finally fell apart recently.  I was actually kind of glad because I've been wondering lately if it was laced with lead.  So, we tossed it, and I needed to get her a new one and make sure that this time, I checked to see if it was actually lead-free (or lead-safe).

Here are some of my great finds:

Those are so cute! I love the first one. I think I saw the first one at whole foods :)

i love that green bunny rabbit one... i'd buy that for myself though. :)my first lunchbox was a pocelain sugarbowl that my mom found at a thrift store. she would put rice and chicken adobo in it and close it with the lid. then she'd put a rubber band around one handle stretch it over the lid and then around the other handle. :)

I just got some from www.lunchsense.com. LOVE THEM. Perfect size and just a brilliant concept. I also love www.laptoplunchbox.com

Lunchsense

The Lunchsense lunchbox looks cool. I love how you can throw it in the washing machine.

Mom

Are you sure these boxes are "lead-free"? I'm pretty sure the green munchler & butterflies box are just "lead-safe". I am searching for a lead-free box. But, thank you for being proactive & posting these!

Correction

Thanks, Jennifer, you may be right. Crocodile Creek’s website says, “Our lunchboxes are child safe, with lead-free linings and are Phthalate and PVC free.” NY Built’s Munchlers website says, “TESTED LEAD AND FOOD SAFE”.

hi from Malaysia
