The Sound of Music
I've been singing the songs from "The Sound of Music" to my kids since the minute they were born. This weekend was the first time that we actually watched the movie together. The kids loved it! After the movie was over, they kept replaying the songs on the DVD over and over again.
It was funny--the weekend before, we had lunch with some friends and their extended family. One of their cousins had just graduated from college and had never heard of "The Sound of Music"--wasn't familiar with "Doe-a-deer." Can you imagine that? Don't let this happen to your kids--watch the movie with them now! :)
For those of you who don't know, "The Sound of Music" is a classic musical which won the Oscar for Best Picture in 1965. The movie was set in Salzburg, Austria. Maria (Julie Andrews) was a young postulant studying to become a nun, but was sent to Capt Von Trapp's home to be a governess to his 7 children. They had lost their mother years ago, and the Capt had become distant. Maria taught the children to sing and brought music and laughter back into the home. Maria falls in love with the Capt, but he has plans to marry the Baroness. Will Maria go back to the Abbey or find happiness with the Capt and his family?

This is definitely one of my
This is definitely one of my all time favorites. What a great idea to watch it with the kids. I'm sure my daughter would love it, especially the puppet show.
I still remember dancing the choreography with the songs in my living room growning up :) I used to always pretend I was the youngest, Gretl, and was always mesmerized by Liesl's bright blue eyes!
